Free Trial Classes, Beginner Competition, and Team Events Announced!

The 2008-2009 Synchro Season is well underway and the Synchro-Maids have LOTS of synchro related events planned. Many of the happenings are for swimmers with one year of synchro experience or less, including multiple free trial classes and other opportunities to try synchro for the first time. In addition, older and more experienced team members have events scheduled in the next few months to improve their skills, compete on the regional level and enjoy social time with their teammates. Synchro-Maids events through December are listed below and more information can be found on the Calendar page. Updates are posted frequently so check back often for more information and for additional events soon to be added! Events for Beginners/Novice and Newbies
"Try It" Week, October 28th - November 2nd - Four FREE synchro trial classes for ALL ages.
Girls Night Out, Saturday November 22nd - An evening of fun for girls in grades 7-12, includes a synchro trial!
Kids Day, Friday November 28th - An afternoon of fun for children in grades K-6, includes a synchro trial!
"Get in Synch" Competition, Sunday December 7th - An optional event for participants in Synchro-Maids classes.

Intermediate, Age Group and Entire Team Events
Choreography Weekend November 7th - 9th - For all Age Group and Intermediate swimmers to write and learn this years routines! Includes Team dinner on Friday.
Figure Meet November 23rd - A regional competition for all Age Group, Intermediate and Masters swimmers.
Synchro Social December 7th - A gathering for the whole team to follow the "Get in Synch" competition.
First Night Worcester Shows December 31st - Two brief shows to celebrate the new year!


 
Masters Team Returns With Multiple Medals AND
an Overall Placement of 13th of 40 Teams!

After working on their routines for more than a year, nine athletes from the Synchro-Maids Masters Team were finally able to showcase their talents on the national level. The team competed at U.S. Masters Championships which took place October 9th-12th in Las Vegas, NV. For many on the team, this was the first time they competed at an outdoor venue and it proved to be a very memorable experience for all. The weather ranged from sunny and windy with the temperature in the 80s to cold and cloudy with the temperature in the 40s. At one point during the trio competition, it actually snowed! Despite this and other challenges of competing at a meet all the way across the country, the team outperformed their own expectations and returned with many ribbons and medals! The highest score for the team, a 70.717, was achieved by Maggie Baker, Shayna Garlick and Amie Humphrey for their 20-29 Trio and earned them a silver medal. Overall the team earned 31 points toward the Team High Point Award and placed 13th out of 40. Results for the team are listed below and complete meet results can be found at USA Synchro.

Annual Girl Scout and Brownie Event Dates Announced

The Synchro-Maids and the YWCA will once again host a variety of events for local girl scout troops and individuals this year. The first event is a Girls Night Out and will be held on November 22nd. Girls grades 7-12 are invited for a night of swimming, games, dancing and more. Other events include a Girl Scout and Brownie swim day for girls to earn their junior swimming badge and learn about swimming safety and a fun-filled overnight at the YWCA. All dates are posted on the Calendar page and information and registration flyers are included below. All events will be held at the YWCA. Back-to-Synchro! Practices start September 8th

Yes, the summer is almost over, but that doesn't have to mean the end of swimming.
Come join the Synchro-Maids as we begin a new season.
Options include:
Intermediate Team: Wednesdays 3:30-5:30 and Sundays 3:30-6:00
12 & under Age Group: Wednesdays 3:30-5:30 and Sundays 3:30-6:00
13-15 Age Group, Junior Team, Senior Team: Fridays 3:30-5:30 and Sundays 3:30-8:00 (Wednesdays Optional)
Masters: Sundays 4:00-7:30, Mondays 6:30-9:00 and Thursdays 7:15-9:00 p.m.

Also, for beginner swimmers we have a variety of 12-week sessions starting:
Beginner Synchro Class: Wednesdays 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Beginner Synchro Class: Sundays 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Novice Synchro Team: Wednesdays 3:30-5:30 p.m.
NEW: “Get in Synch” 30-minute class: The same curriculum as the Beginner Class, only shorter classes. Good for younger or less experienced swimmers. These are scheduled alongside our Learn-to-swim program, so girls can take regular swim class, followed by synchro, if they like.
Tuesdays 4:30-5:00 p.m.
Saturdays 11:00-11:30 a.m.
